ARC Review: Daring Wes by Jules Barnard

I have really enjoyed everything I have read from Jules Barnard and Daring Wes was no different. This book is the second Cade Brothers book, with each one being a standalone story. I had a great time reading this one and recommend this as well as anything else by Jules Barnard.

Kaylee and Wes were in love back in college, until she walked away breaking his heart and causing his golf game to suffer. Forced to take a job working at a resort as a golf pro, the last thing Wes expects is for Kaylee to walk in the door as someone else's fiance. But when sparks start flying between them, he begins to rethink everything he thought he knew.

I really liked Wes and Kaylee. Both had so much under the surface that they hid from the world, and I loved getting to know them and see what all they were each dealing with. I absolutely loved how Jules Barnard handled things here. Readers should know that there isn't any cheating involved here, so don't let that keep you from giving this one a shot. There was a clear connection here and so much chemistry between these two, but I was so glad that they waited for Kaylee's relationship to be over before anything happened. I really admired them for that, and it just made me love them that much more.

Overall, this was another solid read from Jules Barnard and one I would recommend for contemporary fans. I am really liking this series and I can't wait for the next one! Jules Barnard has a way of drawing the reader in from the first page and holding their attention all the way through and that was the case here for sure. This one was an emotional read, and I felt like I was right there with Wes and Kaylee through all the highs and lows they experienced. Great read, and think readers will like this one as much as I did.

ARC Review: Love Profound by Kelly Elliott

Love Profound is the second book in the Cowboys & Angels Series by Kelly Elliott. Each book is a standalone story and is easily understood on their own. Though I will say that the charactes are interconnected and for full enjoyment I would recommend reading in order if possible, even though it isn't necessary. I am loving this family that Kelly has created and I am looking forward to more in this world.

Amelia is the baby of the Parker family and while she writes romance, she doesn't believe in it. After having her heart broken, she prefers to keep it to her stories. Wade is trying to figure out what to do next with his life, so when he gets an opportunity to change his scenery he jumps at the chance. When Amelia and Wade meet, they both find themselves drawn to one another. But can Wade show Amelia that love is real and can be found in more than just her books?

I will admit that I struggled at times with this book, and part of that was Amelia. Though I love the Parker family and this world that Kelly has created, I found it hard at times to relate to Amelia. She came off a bit immature at times and that didn't help anything for me. I really liked Wade though, and he made up for a lot of that. He was sweet and genuinely good, and that is something I find irresistible in a hero. He had been through a lot, and it was great to see him moving forward with his life after it all. These two did have chemistry and a connection, but I wasn't fully invested because of Amelia.

While I did enjoy this book, it didn't have quite the same feel as the first in the series did for me. Besides Amelia, I wasn't entirely sure why the Liam situation was even a part of this story. It felt unnecessary and as though there really wasn't a reason for it. I also felt like there really wasn't much conflict at all here in this story, and that had it feeling a bit flat for me. While I did still like the story, it just didn't have the spark that I normally feel with Kelly's books. I will say though that she definitely knows how to write heroes that are swoon worthy and impossible not to fall for and that was definitely the case with Wade. This one was good, and I think fans of the first book will enjoy this one.

Feature and Giveaway: Forever With You by Beverley Kendall

I’d never fallen harder for anyone than I did for Graham Prescott. The British hottie was like no other guy I’d ever met. And the attraction between us was mutual and red-hot.

I would have done and said almost anything to be with him. So I’d told him one harmless, little lie…

But it hadn’t been.

Harmless or little.

That lie nearly destroyed his life.

Seeing him again after four years stirs up feelings I have no right to feel. So I tell myself the only thing I want from him is his forgiveness. But first I have to earn his trust—something easier said than done. Especially when he makes it clear there’s only one thing he wants from me.

To stay the hell out of his life.

ARC Review: Grip by Kennedy Ryan

The one thing you need to know before starting Grip, is that if you haven't read Flow first you need to start there. It is the start of everything and really does need to be read first. Trust me, you won't regret it! As soon as I had finished Flow, I was dying to read Grip. It set up the story perfectly and I was captivated with these two in a way that I rarely am.

Grip and Bristol first met when Bristol's brother (Grip's best friend) asked him to pick her up from the airport. But when circumstances left them both broken hearted, they went their separate ways. Now they are able to be friends again, but Grip wants everything with Bristol. Can he break through the walls that Bristol has put up, or will the risk of getting hurt again keep her from what they could have together?

I absolutely love these two. That being said though, besides breaking their hearts they have also broken mine. There were some times that I wanted to shake both of them and tell them to just get over themselves. So much time was lost between them due to fear and insecurities and stubbornness. It is so obvious that these two were made for one another, and yet things definitely didn't come easy for them. They each had so much to them though, and it was easy to see that a lot of the time they were in their own head, especially Bristol. The connection between these two was undeniable and stronger than you often see, making them rare and special. But their chemistry is electric and it was a miracle that the tension between them didn't cause my Kindle to catch fire. I just couldn't get enough of them and never wanted their story to end.

Overall, I loved this book. Kennedy Ryan has a way with words that is truly unique and she always writes such different and interesting characters. This story was such an emotional read, and I was invested right from the start. I highly recommend these books and honestly I can't say enough good things about them. Flow and Grip have been some of my top reads this year and I am so excited to read the next chapter in their story, Still.

ARC Review: Flow by Kennedy Ryan

I am usually not a huge fan on prequels, because more often than not they just rehash everything in them in the next story. That wasn't the case here with Flow by Kennedy Ryan though. This prequel perfectly set up Grip and Bristol's story and once I started I couldn't put it down. I was immediately drawn in and hungry for more.

When Grip agrees to pick up his best friend's sister at the airport, he never expects to feel such an immediate connection. But the moment that he lays eyes on Bristol, he knows that she is different. Both of them have their reasons why they shouldn't pursue anything with the other, but find it impossible to deny what they feel.

I absolutely loved these characters right from the start! These two were very different, yet they worked together so well. It was as though they were made for each other and were meant to complete the other. Both Grip and Bristol were deep and well developed, even in this short prequel and I couldn't wait to get to know them any better.

Overall, this was a fantastic start to this series and I honestly can't wait for more. This is definitely a must read before starting Grip, so make sure to read it first! I have always been a huge fan of Kennedy Ryan's since the first book I read of hers, but I think that Grip and Bristol have the potential to be my favorites from her! I am so looking forward to their story!

She is his fantasy…

Ava Jennings has spent her life dedicated to her family’s steel business. So when she catches her fiancé engaging in extracurricular activities under his desk with a coworker, Ava fires him on the spot. With her self-esteem at an all-time low, Ava throws caution to the wind and heads to a well-known, wild biker bar. She’s determined to prove she’s capable of the spontaneous, wicked-hot sex her fiancé was searching for outside their relationship. ARC Review: Dear Bridget, I Want You by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

I absolutely love Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. I can't get enough of the co-written stories and I love their solo releases as well. I always know that if it has their names attached to it that I am going to enjoy it, and they have yet to let me down. Simon just might be my favorite hero of theirs yet, and I think readers are going to love this one just as much as I did!

When Simon finds himself needing a temporary place to live, his best friend hooks him up with a friend of hers looking to make some extra money. Bridget thought that by having a tenant would help out with providing for her and her son. But when she realizes that he is none other than the sexy doctor that helped her out a few months back, she knows that she needs to keep a lid on the attraction she feels for him. Simon is only in town until his residency is over and he isn't looking for anything series, especially with a single mom when he doesn't plan on having a family of his own. But the more time they spend together, the more they find themselves drawn to one another despite all the reasons they should stay away.

I absolutely loved these two. They were so great for one another and I couldn't get enough of them. Simon is definitely one of my favorite heroes EVER! I absolutely LOVED him. He was so sweet and funny, as well as being dirty. I just loved everything about him. Bridget was sweet and vulnerable, but she was strong as well. She is definitely someone I could see myself being friends with in real life. These two just belonged together and I loved seeing them become friends and that turn into more. It was refreshing how honest they were with each other, even if it was done in a way that wasn't always face to face. I also really enjoyed how great Simon was with Bridget's son, it was just adorable.

Overall, this book was fantastic! I loved it and the characters and didn't ever want it to end. There was one thing that I wasn't entirely happy about, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the story. This book is definitely one of my favorites from these two, and I think readers are going to love this one like I did. These two just seem to get better with each new book of theirs, and I honestly hope that neither of them ever quit writing. They are amazing authors individually and together!

ARC Review: Whatever It Takes by Kate Willoughby

Whatever It Takes is the 14th book set in the Camp Firefly Falls world, but each book is a standalone. Not only is this my first Camp Firefly Falls book, but it is also my first book by Kate Willoughby. I really didn't know what to expect, but I was drawn in by the fact that this was a hockey romance and a second chance story. While there were some cute moments here, this one was just okay for me.

When NHL goalie Booth MacDonald sees a picture of his ex Jane, he knows that the biggest regret of his life is what happened to end his relationship with her several years before. So when he gets the chance to talk to her again, he will do whatever it takes to show her that the connection between them is still there. Jane Merrifield has put the past behind her though and has channeled her hurt into a successful blog and business. She finally gets the closure she was needing after having coffee and some talk with Booth, but when Booth shows up at Camp Firefly Falls looking for a second chance she can't help but see that he is no longer the boy that once broke her heart.

While I liked both Booth and Jane on the surface, both of these characters just fell flat for me. There really wasn't much to them and it just felt like they were underdeveloped. I wanted some substance to them, but their personalities just weren't really there. I loved that Jane was a woman that had curves and wasn't a stick thin model. I also loved that Booth embraced that and found it attractive. He realized that his actions as a teenager had hurt Jane and seeing that he had grown and embraced his desires was great. I just wish that I had been more invested in the characters and story to go with that, because in the end it just didn't really stick with me the way I think it could have.

My other big issue here was the fact that this book was really cheesy at times, and it had me rolling my eyes on more than one occasion. Things just came off as childish and I couldn't get over it. What grown man gets hard and his first thought is "Schwing!"? That was just too much for me and it just seemed really immature and happened more than once. It felt like the author was trying a bit too hard for humor and unfortunately just hurt my enjoyment of the story as it all just felt too over the top. There were some cute moments here, but it was just okay overall. This isn't one that I will remember in the long term and while it was quick and light, not one that I would probably read again.
